Sex and Relationships Education

Parents have the right to withdraw their children from non-statutory sex education. At Hatchell Wood Primary Academy, this currently takes place in Year 4 and 5 but is under review in light of the new draft RSE guidance. Parents are informed when sessions take place and are given the opportunity to withdraw their child if they wish. Children who do not take part in these sessions will work in a different area under the supervision of an adult. They will be given alternative work to support learning in a different curriculum area.
